The upcoming film follows Teresa (Brbara Colen), who is returning home to Bacurau, a dry serto town in Brazil, to attend her grandmother’s funeral. Teresa immediately realizes that Bacurau is in trouble. Basic services are scarce, mobile phone coverage is declining, clean water supplies are shut off, and trucks loaded with drinking water are not filled with bullet holes. It soon becomes clear that the corrupt government has completely left the city: Bacurau has not been literally removed from the map, but its citizens are also under attack. If the person is in charge, the villagers must prepare for the planned resistance to prevent further damage.
